Monday Metal Madness – Battle of the Non-Metal Bands

Those who like John Cobbett prefer his work with Hammers of Misfortune which took 100% of the votes last week.  Thank you for voting!  Today I am going to tone things down a bit and select a few popular non-metal bands for this week’s battle.  We talk a lot of metal around here, but we do like other things and we are sure you do as well.  Check out the following videos of bands that would not normally be considered metal although they tend to draw in metal fans.  I chose these bands because musically, they are basically in the same ballpark.  I could have gone with Nickelback and Daughtry for non-metal, but I think these bands are quirky and fun; a cool alternative to Death and Thrash.  Monday Metal Madness is easy; just vote for your favorite and if you like you can tell us why.

  1. “Walk” is one of the best Foo Fighters songs they have ever written. Not a patch on the others in the poll ;)

  2. It’s a tough call for me between Cake and Foo Fighters. I have so much respect for Dave Grohl and the Foo is damn consistent with their quality albums and hilarious videos. Cake on the other hand got one hell of a groove, and you know how much I love bands with groove, so by a hair Cake gets my vote.

  3. Walk is probably the best Foo Fighters song, so it might be skewed a bit. I have all the respect in the world for them and like them a lot. I also like Cake; they put on a great show. Weezer seems like it would be a fun show, but I went with Biffy Clyro. I only heard of them in the last year or so and really like their style and the latest album in particular. I have been listening to them a lot since I just found out my wife likes them too.
