Song of the Week: Fear Before Doesn’t Listen to People Who Don’t Like Them

A couple of years ago I ended up getting into Fear Before after seeing Dan Briggs of BTBAM drooling all over this song on his Facebook feed.  I ended up buying the CD and looking into the bands back catalog before they shortened the band name from Fear Before the March of Flames.  The name change was for good as on the self titled album this song comes from their sound took a dramatic departure from their previous style.  Their old style was a lot more chaotic similar to bands such as early Norma JeanConverge, and early Dillinger Escape Plan.  Not to knock their earlier material, the new direction is more palatable, mature, and all round just better IMO.

Beyond the kinda silly, but still cool and appropriate, song title this is quite a powerful tune.  I particularly like the lyrics of the chorus; “The Earth, it spins and shakes.  It spits you out, it knows your name.”  The hypnotic drumming and weighty guitars really add a great impact to the song.  Check it out.  Enjoy!  Peace Love and Metal!!!
