Hey, cheers for the namecheck
It does sound pretty good, doesn’t it. As someone who’s not that familiar with DT/SYL this has definitely whetted my appetite to find out more.
Lucky Animals has a bit of a Muse feel about it, I think – another band whose imminent new release I’m quite excited about – and indeed, like Muse, this album seems to have to taken a leaf out of Queen’s book, maybe a bit of Todd Rundgren, too. It’s such a HUGE sounding thing with cool harmonies and a bit of a ‘Sci-Fi’ sheen. It’s clever how you can hear many characteristically Metal sounds yet the music is decidedly not aggressive – or not ‘fuck you’ aggressive, so much as big and bold – which makes the occasional touches of screamed vocal, double-bass drums etc all the more powerful when they pop up. Nicely done
Where We Belong is the coolest power ballad I’ve heard in ages and Anneke Van Giersbergen’s vocals are great, too. Definitely one of the best records I’ve heard in a while
This man is a real comedian. He does also video-columns for german Rock Hard DVD which a really funny. Lucky animals sounds in my ears like a Space Stoner Song or something. Like riding a Stormtrooper bike
