Download Festival Update – 23 Feb 11
Well a lot has happened since my last Download Festival update. I should do this more often so I won’t have to list so many bands, but the promoters have been hard at work loading up the stages. It’s still too early to tell which day and stage all associated bands will be playing, but just knowing who will be there is half the battle.
A few days ago, the big announcement was that four huge bands were added to the list. So I eagerly read the article in anticipation for the big news. By the time I got to the end, I thought that the bands might have been left out of the article by accident. Then I realized, that was not the case. The four HUGE bands are:
Twisted Sister - cool, but they WERE huge (would like to see them, but not enough of a draw to get me up there)
Down – Decent, but haven’t listened to them that much
Trash Talk – Who?
Duff McKagan’s Loaded – Never heard of them, but I am aware of who DM is?
I understand there is a promotion going on, but when you say HUGE, I am thinking Big Four, AC/DC, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Today there were 17 more bands added to the list. And the winners are:
Def Leppard
Turisas
All That Remains
Sacred Mother Tongue
Bowling For Soup
Devil Wears Prada
Bring Me The Horizon
Frank Turner
Cheap Trick
Asking Alexandria
Straight Line Stitch
Disturbed
Black Stone Cherry
The King Blues
Madina Lake
Jameson Raid
Ghost
I think I am going to have to write a blog about the first rule in metal…not to give your band a stupid name. There are a few up there, I don’t think I have to elaborate. So here is my question to you. Right here, right now which day would you choose based on the following confirmed date and band lineup?
Friday is headliner Def Leppard with Pendulum, Korn, Alter Bridge, Danzig
Saturday is headliner System of a Down with Avenged Sevenfold, Alice Cooper, The Cult, Twisted Sister
Sunday is headliner Linkin Park with Bullet for my Valentine, Disturbed, Rob Zombie, Frank Turner
If it were me I think the Def Leppard day would be cool also to see Danzig, but I caught Def Leppard at Download in 2009. So this year I would pick Sunday for BFMV and Rob Zombie. But, I am still not going…not enough bands I like on any one given day.
