Song of the Week: Disease, Injury, Madness

Between the Buried and Me is one band that never ceases to amaze me.  From the second my ears picked up the chaotically beautiful sounds of “Mordecai” I have been in love with this band.  Never an easy listen and certainly not for everyone, you cannot say that the lads of this band are lacking in the talent department with each member being one of the best among their contemporaries at what they do.  One of my favorite things about this band beyond how well they balance the chaotic and serene is the guitar work of Paul Waggoner.  Whenever it is time for him to take front stage center he does nothing less than impress even the harshest critics.  Dude can jam.

Of all of his solos the energetic and bluesy solo contained in “Disease, Injury, Madness” off of the album The Great Misdirect is one of my all time favorites.  It’s not very technical nor high flying, but it has such a feel good sense to it that it’s hard not to completely love it.  Also bassist Dan Briggs psychedelic solo spot is yet another high point of the tune.  Check it out.  Enjoy!!!  Peace Love and Metal!!!
