Monday Metal Madness – Hagar/Roth…The Saga Continues

Last week’s Battle of the Black, Scandinavian edition, was easily taken by Enslaved with 100% of the votes.  Congrats to them, they deserve the win!

This week I am toning things down a bit.  I am revisiting the non-so-fine line of distinction between David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar fans when it concerns Van Halen.  A while back when we ran this poll, Van Halen didn’t have anything new released.  Now that we have newly recorded material with David Lee Roth on vocals, has your opinion changed?  Do you like the new music, hate it, or wish Sammy never left.  Just for your information, last time this debate was polled on A Metal State of Mind, Sammy Hagar won.  Where do you stand now?

  1. Always going to go with Hagar. He just has a more interesting voice, in my opinion. I also think that Van Halen put out better written songs during the Hagar era. Roth will always be the better showman though. I’ve got to give him that.

  2. I’m going to go with Alicia on this one. While Diamond Dave is one hell of a showman, Van Halen were just a much tighter band with Hagar at the helm, and I prefer his smoother voice also.

  3. Although I would have loved to see DLR do his roundhouse kicks back in the day, the music Van Halen made with Sammy Hagar was better. But, that’s just me.
