Song of the Week: Freya

Man those riffs!  Gawdamn those riffs are f’n insane.  So thick, heavy, and huge.  This song should come with some form of warning label, the heaviness of those riffs could cause major bodily harm if lifted incorrectly.  And for all their heaviness they are some damn fun ones to listen to and really get the blood pumping.  Here’s one of my favorite tunes by The Sword, “Freya”.  Make sure your stereo is turned up to maximum volume and you have ample space for some furious headbanging.

A bit on the title of the song.  Freya (also spelled Freyja or Freia) is one of the Norse Gods and rules over love, beauty, fertility, gold, seiðr, war, and death.  Along with Odin she is a ruler of an afterlife for those who perish in battle.  Half of the warriors go to Valhalla with Odin and the other half join her in Sessrúmnir.  She also has a pet boar and likes to sport a cloak of falcon feathers.
